At Ringneck Retreat, we never manufacture a hunting experience. We’re not a fenced-in preserve, and we don’t raise animals for you to shoot. Instead, we simply share our incredible 2500 acres with guests, so you can enjoy a truly wild hunt alongside our expert guides and elite bird dogs. Every animal you see on our hunts is wild, including pheasants, snow geese, deer, coyotes, jackrabbits, and fox. We want you to experience a real hunt that challenges you, not an easy day chasing pen–raised birds.
Our guides plan a unique hunt for each group, based on guests’ desires and experience levels. We’re happy to accommodate everyone from guests who prefer a more relaxing hunt to guest who aren’t afraid of a little cold weather (possibly snow) and like the fast action adrenaline pumping hunt that we see in the late season. On these hunts the birds are educated, easily spooked, and bunched up so things happen quickly, meaning that there is some strategic planning required to get everyone into shooting positions. If you like high, fast flying shots then the late season is for you. Give it a try and test your shooting abilities. Because we have 2500 acres of prime hunting land — nearly 5000 acres overall — guests rarely cover the same terrain twice in a hunt. As you traverse through our expansive CRP grasslands, shelter belts, small weed patches, slues, and food plots of corn and milo, you’ll experience a variety of prime habitats that provide for a challenging hunt.
Pheasant hunters at Ringneck Retreat experience an incredible sense of awe when they see from one to literally hundreds of wild pheasants flush up at once. While the birds are plentiful, however, Darik and his crew never guarantee your limit. They want you to experience a truly wild hunt, and you have to work for your rewards.
In addition to pheasant hunting, we also offer spring snow goose, prairie dog, predator (coyote and fox), mourning dove hunts, and fall waterfowl hunts, as well as fishing. Chuckar partridge hunts are available upon request. For information about hunting seasons and fishing at Ringneck Retreat, see seasons and availability.
